TodaysArt 2012がオランダ・ハーグで開催される。

オランダ・ハーグといえば、今年はあの絵画がふと頭をよぎる。青いターバンの少女、フェルメール《真珠の耳飾りの少女》は、この都市を代表するマウリッツハイス美術館からやってきた。今年の夏、東京でも紹介されていたこのマウリッツハイス美術館の誇るコレクションは17世紀オランダ・フランドル絵画を中心とする。芸術、アートと言えばだれでも美術館に鎮座する絵画や彫刻を思う浮かべることだろう。その伝統的なアートを誇るハーグの町で2日間に渡って開催されるのが、2005年から開催され、今年で8回目を迎えるTodaysart だ。

今日のアート（Todaysart）と銘打ったこのフェスティバルの副題は International Festival Beyond Art（アートを超える国際的なフェスティバル）と銘打たれている。17世紀、オランダの栄華をつたえる絵画とは並べることなど到底出来そうもない、はたしてそれはアートなのかと疑問を投げかけるような挑戦的な表現を、TodaysArtは積極的に紹介する。

今年は、150名以上のアーティストが参加。作品展示だけでなく、サウンドパフォーマンス、ダンス、コンサート、クラブイベントなど、盛りだくさんのプログラムが予定されており、加えて今年はシンポジウムも開催される。

このフェスティバルの様子をDepartureは、メディアパートナーとして今後数回に渡って紹介する。
